Main Theme: The impact of ESG on financial services – What can we learn from banks?

This event aims to explore the critical role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors in shaping the future of the financial services industry. As stakeholders increasingly demand sustainable and socially responsible practices, banks are under pressure to integrate ESG considerations into their operations, investment strategies, and risk management frameworks. How can we manage that and how can we also manage our own promises regarding the Road to Paris. We identified 4 key topics:

  1. Regulatory Landscape: High-over/short overview of how Rabobank has become in control of the Sustainability Regulation applicable to Rabobank and the Commitments it entered into.

  2. Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating ESG-related risks. The impact of ESG factors on credit risk, market risk, and operational risk and how we measure this, such as double materiality assessment. Also if or how the risk types influence each other.

    Lucas Besters – Climate Risk Manager

  3. Sustainable Strategy: Key elements of strategic approach of sustainability and brief comparison with recent EBA-guidelines.
    Theo Harms – Lead Sustainability Strategy

  4. Performance and Reporting: Best practices for ESG performance measurement and reporting.
    Roderik Meeder – Manager Group Reporting and ESG Reporting

After a short introduction of the 4 key topics we will discuss the dependency of all of them. The round table discussion will be led by Jacqueline Heijndijk; Global Head second line Control Testing. Come, hear and participate in the round table discussion regarding this challenge.
 
And of course we will finish with Drinks & Networking!
 
 
The event will be a hybrid of English and Dutch languages, to allow organisations to present in their operating language and have an open discussion.

• You can sign up for the event via DABOR website latest by Monday 3 March 17:00. Registrations after this date may not be possible due to logistical reasons. 
• Shortly before the event, the registered participants will receive an e-mail confirmation about the event with latest information.  
• We encourage you to come by public transport, the venue will be walking distance from Utrecht Central station. If you wish you arrive by car, please use public parking possibilities. 
• Joining DABOR events is free of charge for people who are connected with DABOR as an individual participant or join on behalf of a corporate participant, since both pay annual contributions.
• For all others, joining an event one-off is of course possible. The costs are EUR 150. If this cost is applicable to you we will contact you about the payment shortly, but encourage you to consider joining DABOR as a regular participant with annual contribution – you will get access to much more!
